I want to begin my custom build— what's the first step?

The first step is to contact us and arrange a meeting. During the first meeting, you'll discuss the type of build you're looking for, specific desires, ideal location and size. During subsequent meetings, we will discuss an architect, and other specific design choices. Each step will be manageable and we will be there to help you through each specific choice.


Can you assist in finding a plot of land?

We can absolutely assist with that. After 45 years in business we have connections to Real Estate Brokers that can assist in finding the perfect spot for your new home or business.  Once the land has been secured we will take care of all the permits necessary to start the building process.

What should I look for in potential plots of land?

This is a great question. When looking at plots, it is important to see if utilities are already connected to the area; if the plot is zoned for residential building; and if there are any  other local ordinances that affect the property. When looking for land, Dave Cecil Builders can assist you in finding the perfect location for your future build.


Do I need to hire an architect before meeting with you?

No, we would love for you to meet with us first. Once we begin the process, we can assess what you're looking for and from there assemble to proper team to complete your build. We want to ensure that the process is as stress free for you as necessary.


Are we able to make specific design choices?

When we begin discussing the build, you can choose between pre-planned choices that we offer. We can also guide you through specific design choices that will piece together into your perfect space. Contact us today and we can begin the design process!


How long does the building process take?

This question is dependent on several variables— weather, labor availability, geography, resources, specific client requests and more. Typically, custom build homes are done within 8 to 10 months.  The process will begin with gaining permits and making preliminary design choices. Then it will take several months for the building process and wrap up with walk-throughs and inspections. We will ensure that everything gets done properly, in a timely fashion. The sooner you begin talking to us about the process, the sooner you'll be ready to move in.


I don't know anything about building or design, should I still consider a custom build?

Even if you have zero experience with building and design, you still have the ability to decide on specific choices that appeal to you. If you provide us with a budget and your specific opinions on various steps, it will be our job to turn your ideas into a reality.


Is it more expensive to build a custom home/commercial facility?

It depends on the specific aspects of your build. The overall cost will depend entirely on the chosen features, materials and size of the property. Read-made builders usually use certain materials with a lower price tag. If the right materials are chosen during the design process, the custom build can be comparable to read-made design plans.

Our lot requires a well/septic system— can you assist with this?
